Decision made

  Yes, that neurographic piece was rolled up and tossed.  I feel much better but regret wasting those beautifully rusted pieces of cloth.   S-o-o-o-o not much creative going on in this studio. By chance I ran into a well-known local artist in Walmart.  We got to chatting and she agreed that her creativity has diminished significantly over Covid, and that she knows several other friends who feel the same way.  She is now spending time sorting and purging her studio. I am finding pleasure in working on other than original designs.  My EPP work is based on other's designs, even if I use my own colour schemes.  I also continue to use other's techniques in my own work, sometimes slavishly.  So I continue doing preparation for another Maria Schell inspired larger quilt.  This time in pastels, inspired by the glimpse of such a piece on The Quilt Show, the last time she appeared there. I also find my mind thinking about more donation quilts....

Time for a temper tantrum

You know, when your work reaches the stage when you want to throw it on the floor and stomp on it? The stage when nothing is working the way you want it to?  I don't mean that moment when the piece speaks to you, and suggests an alternative, but when you become convinced that nothing is working and you doubt it will ever be finished according to your vision. The Neurographic piece is at that stage.  The lines have turned into thread painting, and I have visions of doing the thread painting every day for the next year.  As well, some of the drawn lines don't have the smooth flow that I've seen in other Neurographic pieces. But then neurogaphic art is supposed to be composed of lines that your sub-conscious chooses, so maybe that is what is happening here. So I will carry on for a bit yet. The InkTense has not been activated, and maybe I should do a little of that to see what the final colour will be, or if I need to darken it a bit.  It's been awhile since I did any ...
