Not much time in the studio over the past couple of months. I guess there comes a time in life when domestic and medical issues become greater concerns. I did take a workshop on making a kaleidoscope quilt. In my EPP I'm wanting to dive into very complex quilts such those designed and made by Willyne Hammerstein, the most popular one being "La Passacaglia". This quilt is often discussed on the internet and Pintrest. One suggestion to those considering making this piece is to take a class in "Stack'n'Whack or Kaleidoscope quilts first. So I did and I'm very glad I did. I thinking I'll be trying something a little less demanding before tackling "LaPassacaglia.
Meanwhile, I'm working on finishing the piece I started in the Kaleidoscope class. Spent a couple of hours yesterday figuring out where I went wrong on this piece. But at last the light bulb went on, and that problem got corrected, but I also came to recognize that I hadn't made enough of a certain critical section. Got the two missing sections out and will probably spend time today sewing those together and getting them ready to insert into the quilt top.
Nov 16 The above was written over a week ago. Finally, this evening the kaleidoscope quilt top was finished. Several areas needed to be re-cut, and several areas were never cut in the first place. Thank Goodness there was enough fabric in the kit to correct errors etc. The quilt will now be sent to the long-armer, but not before Christmas as she is very busy this time of year. Below are pictures. The quilt is 64" by 86 1/2" and the only place to lay it out was on the floor.

To keep my fingers nimble I've also started beading a commercial print that makes a small, long wall hanging. This should take awhile to finish, but a long term project is in order,
