Another "Challenge"
Last year my challenge was 100 days of slowly purging my studio with a minimum of 1 hour per day of solid work on the purge, no matter how long I worked or played in the studio. This year I'm aiming at 90 days, as I believe ( and hope) there is much less to purge. At the same time, I'm actively going to search out art-related donation sites, where my supplies will be understood and appreciated--not thrift stores.
We've lived in this house for 24 years. In that time, my studio has grown from a corner of the basement, to take in all of the finished area of the basement, including a bathroom and an extra bedroom. I have two full large wooden chests, and the walls are covered with my finished work. This all has to be dealt with in some way. Thank Goodness the two large floor to ceiling bookcases were purged last time. However, there is still stuff to deal with there, albeit a small amount. But, there are two large floor to ceiling book cases upstairs that need to be deeply purged. I have long collected books in series, when I enjoy them. That job will be heart rending for me.
The 90 Day Challenge will officially start October 1st, although I can see us actively seeking out boxes and cartons for moving stuff, and otherwise getting ready to get started, starting today.
In the meantime, the ladies at my craft group approved the pot holders I showed them, as well as the potential price I planned to charge. One of them also suggested that I advertise them as "trivets' as well as "pot holders". Great idea. The sale is Nov 25th
At the same time, I will be cutting as much fabric as I can into different sizes, in preparation for making as many donation quilts as I can find time for, over the next few months. Last time I turned some in, I was given enough batting for at least 4 more, of the size I usually work on. I feel that makes it a commitment.
So give me strength and encouragement, as well as maybe some ideas of where this art-related stuff could be sent. Any ideas would be appreciated.
