Fibre Art Pieces for sale

In expectation of selling our house, my fibre art pieces must find new homes. Most of the newer pieces have been disposed of, leaving some older pieces of which I've always been especially fond.  I've prepared a detailed list of these, in no particular order.  Please give me a call if you see any that speak to you.  Prices are always negotiable.

1. "Fantasy Flowers" This is the very first hanging I ever made as a specifically "art quilt".  It is 32" by 29".  All of the flowers and leaves were hand made and appliqued.

Suggested price: SOLD

2"Blue and Yellow Shibori"  26" by 301/2"   Shibori is a dyeing technique with a lengthy history in Japan.  It's very labour intensive but can produce stunning results.  As the fibre is often tied into bundles before dyeing, the image of the thread used to tie the bundles often becomes part of the pattern. I usually make my
Shibori-dyed fabric into fibre collages that are then fairly intensively machine quilted.

Suggested Price  $175

3. Blue and Pink Shibori   25" by 36"

Another Shibori piece demonstrating a different selection of Shibori techniques.

Suggested Price  $175

4. Purple Shibori  22" by 32"  This relies on even more Shibori techniques, this time using one technique on top of another and then adding leaf prints.

Suggested Price $150

    5. Soft Orange Shibori    10" by 29"  More Shibori but in softer colours and with the addition of subtle delicate beading along with the leaf prints.

Suggested Price  $125

6.  Spring Tree  22 1/2 by 33"  The tree is appliqued onto hand dyed fabric, as are the small spring leaves, the word Spring, and the Celtic runes. The machine quilting required constant colour changes.  Translation of the runes is available.

Suggested Price   $300

7. Damask Leaves  18 1/4" by 29 1/4"  The leaves are cut from hand dyed and machine quilted cotton Damask before being individually beaded around the edge.  They are then loosely attached to a pieced, hand dyed cotton background.

Suggested Price  SOLD

8. Blue Maple  17" by 24 1/2"   Individual leaves are fused to a machine quilted, pieced cotton background.

Suggested Price  SOLD

9. Future Perspective  35 3/4" by 23 1/2"  The message here is that the future of the Canadian Prairies is in the North.  All three Prairie Provinces are represented--the mountains and Dry lands of Alberta, the farm fields of Saskatchewan, and Manitoba with The Forks and the edge of the Canadian Shield.

Suggested Price  $300

 10. "Beneath the Sea"  13" by 18"  This fully finished piece is a little different. While it's not a quilted piece it represents my other love-- hand embellishment. The stitched area is done over a piece of hand made silk paper.

Suggested price  $50

11. "Joy"  21 by31 1/2   I'm thinking of re-naming it "Exuberance".  Again this came out of my experimentation with a new technique--thickened dye,  This is the most recently created, and one of my very favourite.

Suggested Price $165

12. Resurrection   16 3/4" by 26"  This piece uses altered Tyvek and fairly dense beading over hand dyed fabric.  All the materials used are left over from other projects, hence the name.

Suggested Price  SOLD

13. School Days  25" by 16" The fish were hand painted on cotton, and were then cut out and appliqued to hand dyed cotton.   The whole piece was then covered with pale green organza, and machine quilted.

Suggested Price   SOLD

That's it Folks.  Give me a call or e-mail if you see something that interests you.
